Wellness Wire: HALVED Dinnerware – a Kickstarter Project We Love

While enjoying a delicious meal, do you ever wish there was something that would make it easier to fight the temptation to fill your plate to the brim? Have you ever hoped that eating a bowl overflowing with cereal, rice, or pasta wouldn’t leave you in a debilitating carb coma? Well if these fears sound more like reality to you, a trio of innovative inventors from Indonesia have launched a Kickstarter project that may serve as a viable solution!

The project is called HALVED: Dinnerware that makes you eat less, and it is exactly what its name says it is – basic dishware that has been cut in half in order to physically prevent you from being able to consume as much as you would using regular-sized dishes.

Portion control is an essential component of maintaining healthy eating habits, but it seems like in our world today that task is becoming more and more difficult. The supersized portions of food sold in supermarkets and served by restaurants has led us to only be satisfied by enormous portions. Overeating is a bad habit that is notoriously hard to kick to the curb, but these innovative dishes offer a friendly solution. Fajar Kurnia, Jeremy Chia, and Jo Djauhari are the brains behind the project, and their thinking was brought on by this notion of portion control. They thought that the idea of putting smaller portions of food on large plates was discouraging and just plain sad, so they decided that the better alternative would be to just make the dinnerware smaller. The result was HALVED, the full collection of which consists of a half-sized plate, bowl, and mug.
