Foodie Pen Pal: September Treats to Love

The hardest thing about the Foodie Pen Pal program is taking photos before you break into the box! Any pen pal participants agree? This week…I failed. But we all break sometimes!

The Lean Green Bean

This month I was paired up with Tiffany from Domesticated Academic. I told her I had a preference towards salty, healthy treats and she didn’t disappoint. She went on a shopping trip at Annie Kay’s which is a local health food store in Virginia with a little bit of everything.

I immediately broke into the honey and pistachio energy bites…and then quickly smothered them with Justin’s Peanut Butter. Truly delicious. They were perfect for breakfast or a snack and needless to say they are gone. I have to find out how to make some energy bites of my own. Any recipe ideas?

My next food victim was the carrot chips! I have been eyeing up this recipe to Make Your Own Carrot Chips on Pinterest for a while and so I was happy to official try carrot chips before I made a mess in the kitchen. I will definitely be making my own because they were fabulous and a great alternative to potato chips.

Tiffany also sent me a baggie full of Tamari Almonds. This was a new flavor to me. Tamari is naturally brewed soy sauce, but it is not as salty as you would think. They are light in flavor and taste like roasted almonds with the perfect amount of saltiness. Yum, yum and more yum.

My Foodie Pen Pal matches always know that I love tea without me telling them. I am grateful! My husband always mixes and matches the plethora of tea bags we have on hand and Clipper Organic Wild Berry is an amazing base.

Thank you, Tiffany, for the amazing box. I love everything. Check out what I sent to my match Jennifer from JennJill Designs! I took my first trip to Chelsea Market

Being a Foodie Pen Pall is easy! Visit The Lean Green Bean for details. Lindsay is the rock star who runs the program and will touch base with you on everything you need to know. You are just a few clicks away from amazing food in your mailbox!

What is the most interesting food you have tried lately? Have you ever made your own carrot chips?
