eBook Review: If I Die, Please Send Cheescake to my Funeral

Living a healthy lifestyle requires a certain amount of rule following, planning and strategy. But stepping outside of the lines and bringing fun into fitness is the only way to enjoy way to stick to it. Donloree, leadership coach and inspired fitness enthusiast who has made herself a known name in the healthy living community, is a pro at living healthfully with plenty of spunk…the PERFECT way to do it.

I had the honor of reading Donloree’s first published eBook called If I Die, Please Bring Cheesecake to my Funeral. You know you are in for a real treat just by reading the title. The book gives a brief glimpse into the hilarious fitness related stories that have shaped her attitude of her healthy lifestyle and they are truly laugh out loud good. Everyone should live their life with such a unique approach to healthy living.

Want a sneak peak? I’ve got you covered.

I was lucky enough to get more motivational words through a one-on-one interview with Donoloree. Needless to say, more humor will be a part of my fitness routine…even if that means I have to push myself to new scary limits.

Hear some details from the (mis)adventurous guru herself:

Why did you decide to write an eBook documenting some of your most funny and fitness related moments?

Most people have these stories, but so few of us tell the world about them! I wanted people to know they aren’t alone in their near death experiences while trying to get fit.

What else triggered your weight loss journey besides realizing that Angelina was not going to make the muffin top hip?

At the age of 19, I went to the doctor and was humiliated to find I was in Obese Class 1 and pre-diabetic. Even this news wasn’t enough to make me change my ways. I felt like my health was too far-gone; what was the point in changing?

That same summer I wanted to work at a camp with junior high kids, except there was one problem. I couldn’t run across a football field without nearly collapsing and turning purple. The realization that I couldn’t play with the kids and be part of their lives in the way I wanted at camp was eye opening.

I realized my body was getting in the way of the life I wanted to live.

Looking down the road I was currently traveling, I only saw destinations like wheelchairs, oxygen masks, and sickness. These were places I did not want to go, not in the least.

I found a pair of runners at a garage sale that were my size, paid the $5 as listed on the orange sticker, and started on a new path.

You talked quite a few times about tripping, falling and still having a great time! How do you think your clumsiness has positively impacted your healthy lifestyle?

When you fall over, you can get up and keep going or lay there and complain. Most of my life has been filled with clumsy adventures; I am well versed in failure. In order to grow and get to the next level with fitness you have to embrace failure. Without learning how to fail, get up, and move forward I have no doubt I wouldn’t have tried all the things I have tried.

You’ve had quite a few fearful experiences in your fitness journey (like skiing for the first time, etc.). Do these events encourage you to continue to try new fitness activities? What is one activity you still want to try?

When I try new things I am afraid of, I remind myself of my skiing and kayaking adventures – if I can do that I can do anything. I just started playing squash, which I love except for when I run into the wall while trying to get the ball. I have had quite a few really bruised knees. Any individual sport that is really competitive is right up my alley. I am contemplating Crossfit as my next big adventure.

You are full of character! Do you think fitness has helped shape that or you have just brought your personality to fitness?

YES! I am slightly ridiculous and always have been. Stretching myself and learning to laugh at myself during some very awkward and embarrassing moments has only increased my high level of ridiculousness.

Yoga may not be your language, but what fitness language are you fluent in? What is your favorite workout?

I love weight training. Give me a barbell and tell me to lift it off the ground, throw it over my head, or squat it and I am a happy woman. A perfect morning of training is a quiet weight area where I can use whatever I want to kill my back, shoulders, or arms and then finish the workout with 10 minutes of HIIT cardio.

Where do you stand in your healthy lifestyle?

I am in the gym almost every morning and am constantly setting new goals and learning how fitness isn’t just about the size of your pants. It is part of the fabric of my life and is intrinsic to helping me reach goals in my business and person life. You have to take care of yourself before you can take care of others and sustain a life of chasing down audacious goals.

Do you have plans for a new eBook?

There are about 3 or 4 more in the works at the moment. I have a feeling my next book will be all about my adventures while training for and competing in a bodybuilding competition. Now that was an adventure of a lifetime!

Want a copy of the book for youself? Purchase it on Amazon, iBooks or Smashwords.
