Virtual Nutritionists - Online Diet Trackers

The rise of social media has exploded over the past decade. Millions of users use social media, not only for personal use, but for business use as well. Apps aren’t only meant for games anymore, but tools that consumers can use to assist them with tracking their health, fitness, and other personal goals.

In the world of health and nutrition, there has been a rise of ‘virtual nutritionists.’ In other words, these nutritionists are based online, through an app, or via an Instagram or Twitter page. Those seeking health and nutrition advice no longer need to find a local specialist, but instead can hop on line and set up a meal or exercise plan in a few simple clicks.

Although all virtual nutritionists may operate differently, there are many sites that you can enter your goals, like fat loss, muscle gain, or other specifics, and the site or app generates exact meal plans for you. The best part is? Most of these sites are free!

Louis DeMenthon, a 23-year-old virtual nutritionist, who was just featured on the Washington Post, created a site that generates meal plans and helps people achieve their weight loss goals for free. His site, Eat This Much, is based on three simple questions: Do you want to gain or lose weight; How many calories do you need; and how many meals do you want to eat each day. Those with dietary restrictions can input that before they start their regimen. The site also offers a recipe guide, and FAQ section for those who require more information.

Virtual nutritionists may work differently for certain people. For those who are just starting new health and nutrition goals, it’s always a good idea to get advice from a doctor. It’s hard to tell who is qualified when it comes to guiding people on nutrition. Because your health is top importance, always get a second opinion before diving head first on a meal plan you find online, to ensure that you aren’t eating too many or too few calories.
