This Not That: Blush & Bronzer Duos

this not that - blush bronzer duos

Blush and bronzer are two essential makeup products when it comes to making your cheeks pop. A combination of both will make your face look contoured and more lively. For convenience, one palette with both of these products is great for being organized and doing your make on the go. Almost all major beauty brands have some blush/bronzer combination. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Kerry Washington are known for their beautifully contoured makeup looks using blush and bronzer.

To get this look, first apply the blush color (which is usually the pinker one) on the top of your cheekbone. The blush should be applied at an upward angle starting from top of the apples of your cheeks until the end of your eye. Next, apply the bronzer in the shape of a “3”. Start at the top of your hair line at your temples, then make a C shape that ends under your cheekbone (in the hollows of your cheeks). Then create another C shape from under your cheekbone to under your chin.

Tarte Power Couple Amazonian Clay Blush Bronzer Duo(via)

Tarte’s Power Couple Amazonian Clay Blush/Bronzer Duo is a limited edition product that contains a pink blush and a light brown bronzer. This product cost $30.00 and is available at Sephora and online at tartecosmetics.com.  What makes this duo different from others on the market is that it contains Tarte’s signature Amazonian Clay. In this product the clay is said to make the color stay longer and look true to color on your skin for 12 hours. The ingredients in this blush are vegan friendly and there are no parabens or phthalates. Peppermint oil, goji berry extract and vitamin E are some of the ingredients in this blush. Lets review some of the pros and cons of this blush and bronzer duo.

Pros

  • Made with natural ingredients (vegan friendly)
  • Last for 12 hours
  • Contains a large amount of product

Cons

  • Only comes in one shade
  • Will only be in stores for a limited time

The Verdict: It’s alarming that it is so difficult to find a list of the ingredients for NARS blushes and bronzers. Tarte’s alternative is natural and contains less chemicals. Although this product is limited edition, it’s worth trying to find and stocking up on if it works for your skin tone.

  1. This is exactly the technique I use! Iuse MAC bronzer and Bare Minerals blush in an apricot shade. Starting with a good base is important too. I swear by Cover Girl concealor (been using since I first started wearing makeup) under the eyes and down the bridge of the nose, then dust the whole face with a light brush of MAC StudioFix.

  2. THIS IS my favorite brand! I am obsessed. The weird thing is though, I don’t actually currently have it in my house. I am always on the hunt for new and better and EASIER make up products, this one fits the bill. It gives such an amazing bronze.

Right now I am actually using Merle Norman. Have you ever heard of the brand? It’s actually hard to find in stores with barely any stores around the country, I am not even sure how they do business because you cannot even buy their products on line! Perhaps it’s more of a European company?
