Teatoxing: Is It Really Healthy?

Teatoxing - Is Teatoxing Healthy or a Scam

The tea detox, more commonly known as a ‘teatox’ is a new weight loss trick that is starting to emerge in the UK and Australia. The tea these companies sell aims to reduce bloating, clear up your skin and make you lose weight through drinking tea and following a well-balanced diet. Though these programs, such as YourTea and SkinnyMe Tea, have come under some scrutiny recently, many clients have been raving about the results they’ve received from these companies 14 and 28-day ‘teatoxes.’ But underneath it all, we know we can’t get the body we want in two weeks: it’s short-term, unrealistic and not healthy for us. So, do these tea-based detoxes really work?

Though everyone’s body reacts differently to various food programs, there are a few points of caution to consider before beginning any form to ‘teatox.’ First off, the main ingredients in the natural tea are Senna, which is a natural laxative, and other forms of diuretics. Diuretics temporarily relieve the system of any bloating from water, flushing out some excess weight. This weight doesn’t stay off for long and is typically returned upon the first few meals you eat after taking a diuretic. Taking laxatives to lose weight depletes the body of nutrients that it needs. Each tea company doesn’t provide a specific list of ingredients, or the amounts of each herb that is in the tea. This may mislead consumers purchasing their ‘teatox,’ especially online. Be wary of what you are purchasing before you do—people can scam and be scammed so easily on the Internet.

Many customers of these ‘teatoxes’ base their decision to purchase off of the Instagram accounts the tea companies have posting success stories about women who lost 10 pounds in two weeks. Anyone knows that a diet that changes your body that quickly cannot be healthy for you. It may work, but chances are the results won’t last long.

The benefit of the tea companies’ sites is that they provide detailed healthy eating meal plans, and lists of food to eat. Each daily meal plan makes sure you are receiving nutrition from the correct foods. What they don’t tell you is that all those nutrients are flushed out at the end of the day.

As with every weight-loss program, there are people who either swear by, or swear off the product based on what they personally experience. It’s hard to say what is good for every person, but taking precautions never hurt. Again, each body is different, but the bottom line is to research any weight-loss program you decide to go on. Make sure you know exactly what you are getting, and what your goals are. Eating clean and training hard will always be the key to any successful health venture.

It’s hard to say whether or not detoxing through this special blend of tea is safe, healthy, or beneficial for weight-loss. For those that detox, flushing your body of toxins is never considered a bad thing. Detoxing twice a year is common for people who want to get that extra gunk out of their system, but making a habit of detoxing can lead to eating disorders or other health problems. Finding a program that works for you is key to leading a healthy and well-balanced life.

  1. It’s good if the teas come with a healthy eating plan-but people need to learn to make being healthy a daily thing, not just part of an occasional cleansing…

  2. The Your Tea teatox is so much better than Skinny Me Tea. skinny me tea is horrible, it left me with stomach ulcers. Tiny Tea by Your Tea is genlte and nourishing and from the feedback online they are recommended well before Skinnyme Tea by nearly everyone
