With each season comes a different level of moisturizers, face makeup, face wash and an array of other beauty necessities. For those who love to travel, finding the right products to pack efficiently, while also giving your skin the care it needs can be tough.
Fortunately, we’ve created a list of tips to keep in mind when packing for your next summer trip, no matter how long it is. There are plenty of things that can be overlooked when packing and your skin should not be one of them. But remember to pack light. Taking only the necessary skin products will help you pack more efficiently and eliminate the need to cake on unneeded makeup that will leave your skin in poor condition.
Here is the Bite Size list of what you need:
- SPF: No matter where you are, SPF is an essential for summer travel. Walking around the city or lying on the beach both expose your skin to soak up harmful rays. Most moisturizers, even tinted, usually have an SPF of at least 15. When looking for a moisturizer, this is a key factor that shouldn’t be overlooked. Sunspots and uneven color show up easily on the face, so keeping an SPF handy when you travel is beneficial. Not only should you always have an SPF for your face, but if you’re wearing light clothing and exposed to sun, it’s important to bring a light SPF 15 or 30, either in the form of mist or a non-greasy lotion.
- Moisturizer: Contrary to the thought process of most women, moisturizer is meant to be used year round, not just when skin is dry. Finding a light moisturizer that won’t clog your pores is crucial. Although your skin might feel sweaty and oily in the sun, moisturizers protect skin from sun damage, especially one that has UV protection, or some sort of SPF. Moisturizer helps reduce wrinkles, keeps skin soft, and makes it easier to apply makeup. Applying moisturizer to a clean face allows makeup to go on smoother, looking less chalky. Long days of traveling, especially in summer heat, make our skin tired and irritated. Needless to say, your skin will thank you for religiously applying moisturizer. Tinted moisture is also a must-have for summer beauty travel! Because of the dual action it provides, your face will have a healthy glow without looking ‘fake,’ but also get the soothing aspect it needs. Those who sweat excessively on the forehead or around the face should opt for tinted moisturizer versus powder makeup during hot summer days.
- Hydrate: The most powerful tool for healthy skin in the summer is proper hydration. Drinking 8 glasses or more of water a day will help revitalize your skin and keep it looking fresh. Adding your favorite fruit or mint leaves to your water makes drinks fun. Internal hydration is just as important as external. Mix mint leaves and water together and put in a spritzing bottle to spritz on your face throughout the day. Not only does it help cope with the summer heat, but also it makes your skin stay awake and moisturized throughout the day.
- Carry oil pads: Oil pads don’t take up any space in your purse when traveling to different destinations, which makes them even more convenient to pack with you during summer traveling. Oil pads are useful after long days in the sun to help soak up that excess shine on your face. They also brush off any sweat or dripping makeup as a result of the hot sun. Oil pads are a necessity to have wherever you are, not just during traveling or the summer season.
With these helpful tips, traveling doesn’t need to be detrimental to your skin during these hot summer months. These simple steps provide a fresh-faced, clean look during traveling periods.
