It is time to get your groove on with dinner and a movie dance classics. This week, we are encouraging you to eat, while watching others with incredible bodies dance their hearts out, which is probably a conflict of interest, but dance movies are the most entertaining anyways. There is nothing like the upbeat music and impossible dance routines that make up a dance classic. We must admit, picking out just three dance movies was not an easy feat. There are a ton to pick from, but we think we narrowed it down to some of the greatest ones (based on songs of course). Let these dance flicks inspire you to get moving, after you chow down on these awesome recipes of course (don’t worry, we kept them relatively healthy this week)…
Dirty Dancing + Tilapia Tacos (Via Real Simple)
You didn’t think we wouldn’t start with the classic that made dance movies what they are today, did you? “Nobody puts Baby in a corner”, and we only learned that because this movie taught us. Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey have chemistry that could make anyone swoon, and they prove it through the way of dance. We paired this infamous summer romance with tilapia tacos – a light meal to hold you over through the best dance movie of all time.
Step Up + Bow Ties and Balsamic Dressing (Via Cooking Light)
Alright, we know that Step Up isn’t considered a classic yet, but we have high hopes for it in the future. The combination of classical and street dancing makes for one of the most high energy movies. It doesn’t hurt that the on screen couple – Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan – actually got married after this film in real life. It gives us all hope that when our lives turn into a dance classic that we will find true love. Until then, we can just find true love in this incredible bow tie, feta, tomatoes, and balsamic dressing pasta.
Footloose + Grilled Corn and Black Bean Salad (Via Rachael Ray)
Everybody’s gone footloose! Before Kevin Bacon was fighting crime in all of his recent shows, he was committing crimes, dancing in a town that forbids dancing. Oh, if you thought we were talking about the Footloose remake, you are insane. The one and only Footloose worth watching has 80’s hair that is so outrageous, you will wonder how it doesn’t have an impact on those impeccable dance routines. Try a dinner salad with a southwest twist to it with this grilled corn and black bean salad recipe!
