Dinner and a Movie: Spring Time Mix

Good news everyone, Spring is here. That’s right, Thursday March 20th was the Vernal Equinox which means we can all say goodbye to the brutal winter the north just endured, and hello to some much needed sunshine and vitamin D. Even though we can all watch the flowers bloom by day, it still won’t be quite warm enough out to party into the night. When you retreat back into your home as the temperature plummets from 60 degrees to 30 degrees with the setting sun, make a fabulous meal and curl up to watch some of your favorite spring time movies. This week’s dinner and a movie is dedicated to the internal joys of spring!

Play ball! Spring means America’s favorite past time starts up again in full swing. Jump into baseball season with one of our all time favorites Fever Pitch. Jimmy Fallon and Drew Barrymore are an unstoppable on screen couple in this feel-good movie about the struggle one man faces when he has to pick between his favorite team, the Red Sox, or his incredible girlfriend. In honor of the movie being about the Boston Red Sox, enjoy some lobstah rolls, which are one of the most coveted foods at Fenway Pahk. (Is my Boston accent too thick?)

The urge to skip school/work hits an all time high as the temperature rises. We can think of about 1,000 other things we would rather do than our work. That is why Ferris Bueller’s Day Off has made the spring time movie list. If Bueller isn’t the perfect inspiration to neglect all responsibilities for the day, then we don’t know who is. Instead of going to work, kick back and enjoy a delicious bacon grilled cheese while watching this classic.

If these other movies don’t do it for you, then surely a Jason Segel and Paul Rudd comedy will. I Love You, Man will have you in stitches while making you crave the sunshine of spring. Two men from Los Angeles find themselves becoming buddies in unlikely circumstances and a beautiful friendship develops. One of our favorite scenes is the fish taco scene at the taqueria. Watch I Love You, Man and enjoy this tilapia taco recipe to get ready for warmth!
