If you want to put some Halloween fun into your workout routine you should definitely try a zombie run. A zombie run is a marathon (usually a 5K) or obstacle course that has a zombie theme. There are usually two types of participants, runners, and zombies. Some runs even have two different types of zombies: slow-walking zombies, and fast zombies that chase you. The average price of a zombie run is around $30-$50 and some offer lower rates to runners that work in groups. We’ve found three zombie runs we’re dying to try out. Dead Rising 3 (Multiple Locations)
Dead Rising 3 is one of the most popular zombie runs across the country. It was the first zombie obstacle course in the United States and tests your strength, endurance, and fear of the living dead. At the end of every run they host a festival called an Apocalypse Party, which includes free beer for participants, food and a DJ. To be a runner it costs $70-$100 depending on what package you choose, and to be a zombie is cost from $35-$45. For zombies, this race even offers professional zombie makeup. Bad to the Bone (Las Vegas, Nevada)
Bad to the Bone is an endurance sports company that hosts themed 5K runs all over the United States. Danger!Zombies!Run! is the zombie run they will be hosting this year. Unlike other zombie runs, this is one where you can bring the whole family along. Although the zombies still look scary, it’s not so gory that school-aged children can’t participate. Human registration prices range from $15-$30 and there are deluxe zombie packages that range from $30 to $45. This run takes place on October 27th, so you still have time to register. They also have awards for the following categories: fastest human male, fastest human female, zombie with most kills male, zombie with most kills female, best zombie costume male, best zombie costume female, best zombie costume youth boy, and best costume youth girl.
Dane’s Zombie Obstacle Course (Austin, Texas)
Dane’s Zombie Obstacle will be taking over Austin at an unknown location. Besides a mysterious location, this zombie obstacle course also has a real mission. Participants must find supplies in the infected zone and bring them to the safe zone. This is one of the most affordable zombie runs costing 4 runners only $40 and running and walking zombies only $10. The event is sponsored by Dane’s Body Shop and tickets can be purchased here through Eventbrite.

Wow, these look sooo fun! What a great way to get yourself to run…have someone chase you! It’s genius. However, I am pretty easily spooked so I might be too much of a scaredy cat to make it through!
