First things first, congratulations to Katie for winning the Food Should Taste Good sampler pack!
And huge thanks for everyone else that participated. I wish I could have shared a bit of FSTG heaven with all of you, but I do hope you try to purchase your desired flavor when you see it at the store.
This week I conquered Central Park boot camp…well, sort of. It kicked my butt but I was reminded how far your body can take you when you push yourself. Or maybe it was just because I had a leader that was yelling in my ear or the mirage of water at the end. But either way, I was able to #findmygreatness! Four more sessions to go….oy vey!
This week’s Breakout Bites had me laughing, nodding in agreement, having sore arms and eating cottage cheese. Take a look at why I love all of these health blog posts!
If I Owned a Gym| Lindsay’s List
I don’t know how many times I have talked about gym pet peeves to my friends and family. “That guy that grunts in the corner was there again.” “Why does the uber-cycler in spin ALWAYS leave a puddle behind?” “I know her bod is out of this world, but really do she have to wear that?” And other such under-the-breath niceties. But in Lindsay’s guest post from the one and only Alyssa at Life of Blyss created a dream gym where poking fun at all of our gym frustrations. This post had me laughing out loud. I want a membership to any gym that has loud grunters wearing pink tiaras and a gym employee passing out high-fives and gold stars. Sign me up!
The Diet Trap: Just Say No! | Run Run Mom
When a new “diet” pops up I sometimes get angry at myself for being intrigued. I have been there and done that with way too many diets to know that they never work for me in the long haul. And yet, the diet industry continues to make me think that this one may work. Fooled. I love Katie for admitting that she too had fed into the long list of weight loss answers out there until coming to a new goal that could stick: “Get strong, not skinny.” She made a simple program for herself that is working for her sans diet book. For me, when your mind is in an a forever state of mind that is when the best success happens and eating right just becomes part of who you are. Make enough good choices to create a healthier you!
Office Arm Challenge | Eating Bird Food
Who doesn’t love an exercise you can do at work? Brittany and her co-worker are on a mission to have their arms looking fab for their upcoming wedding so decided to spend the afternoon slump working out their arms instead of yawning! What I love most about this post was to hear the chain effect that happened. The Office Arm Challenge started with Brittany and her co-worker, then two other woman in the office started joining in and friends on twitter promised to get involved. It goes to show you how powerful you can be as a leader when it comes to fitness and living a healthy lifestyle. So, who else wants to participate in the challenge?
How to Stay Healthy When your Life Revolves Around Food |
The Lunchbox Diaries
My mission to explore all the nooks and crannies of NYC has led me to many fantastic places…many of them being restaurants. You can literally feel like you traveled anywhere in the world via plate. So lately I have felt like the foodie in me is taking over as I scour Zagat ratings and quiz other New Yorkers on the best of the best eateries in Manhattan (and beyond). Thankfully Colleen hosted Gabby from Gabby’s Gluten-Free on her site before I drowned in yelp reviews and tapas! Her tips on eating right even when food is a big part of your life are spot-on. My favorite: pick your poison and make it worth it. Indulgent days should be the exception not the norm. Fabulous post!
Cheesecake in a Bowl | Colourful Palate
And speaking of food, a Breakout Bites round-up would not be complete without a healthy recipe that has you running to the store for ingredients. As a huge cheesecake fan, Charissa took all the guilt out of my foodie poison. Her recipe for cheesecake in a bowl’s main ingredient is cottage cheese and I love, love, love the thought of adding fruit flavored jam. This is a simple dessert you can whip up when the sweet tooth strikes.
Don’t forget to keep taking note of your food pairing for the #PairYourEats challenge. This is going to be a fantastic blog link-up party!
Did you read any blog posts this week that you loved? Who is excited for the weekend?
