Barre Classes

Though barre classes and barre-centric studios have been around for years, it was only until recently that these classes have become a major trend among the mass population of women, mostly middle-aged. This is a challenging class that allows you to rely on your own body weight to gain lean muscle. Do barre classes in addition to a cardio schedule. You’ll see your body change in no time.

Group Cycling

Not every city is lucky enough to have a SoulCycle, but many group cycling classes are adopting the same model into their gyms. Group cycling is usually done to high-intensity music in a dimmed or dark room. These classes help motivate you to pedal your fastest, torching up to 500 calories per session. The music is intense, the pace is quick, and it’s likely that you’ll be having such a good time that you won’t even realize you’re working out.

Boot Camps

Boot camps are typically offered in week or month long sessions through a local personal trainer or gym. Boot camps are great because working out in a group is a self-motivator, for most. They will push you to do better than you would alone. It’s almost like having a personal trainer. And the best part is, change is almost always guaranteed.

Core Training

Core training classes are all the rage right now. Whether you’re working to get that summer bikini body, or a year-round bikini body, core training will help you to flatten your abs, enhance your posture, and allow you to burn more calories throughout the day. A strong core is key for keeping the rest of your body aligned.

Athleta and Lululemon are some of the top brands of the moment. Not only do they provide some of the most fashionable styles on the market, the quality exceeds most brands on the market.

Green Juice

Kale, spinach, Swiss chard, cucumber, wheatgrass, celery. All these vegetables that don’t sound too appealing? Throw them in a juicer with some fruits to make a drink packed with nutrients. Green juices are great post workout to replenish nutrients you lost.

Traditional Diet & Exercise

Nothing is more effective to achieving your health, fitness, or weight loss goals like traditional diet and exercise. This requires willpower, determination, and consistency to see results. But stick with it, and you’re bound to be the healthiest version of yourself.

You don’t need to live in the heart of the city to take part in all the trends in the fitness world. Not only do these trends make you seem fashionable in front of your friends, family (and Twitter followers), they’ll help you achieve your best shape.

  1. I find barre classes pretty worthless. But I like everything else on your list!

Those jumping on the green juice trend need to remember though that it’s great for a boost of antioxidants but don’t buy into the whole “juice cleanse” craze. It’s B.S. (I have a full rundown on my blog). Green vegetable protein smoothies are so much better!

  2. I never have tried barre classes, but ballet keeps me in very good shape.
I am not into green juice so much, unless it is more of a smoothie that has the actual whole fruits and veggies in it. Why not get the fiber with the vitamins, is my theory:)

  3. ATHLETIC CLOTHING! I am ALL ABOUT the athletic clothing! I hate barre classes, I hate cycle classes, I really just don’t think I am a group exercise kind of girl as much as I try and force myself to be. But bring me to an athletic clothing store and I am ALL about shopping with a group! lol!
