Breakout Bites of the Week Ending July 6

We are starting a new tradition here at BSW. A weekly roundup kind of tradition.

Being a member of the healthy living community is probably the best way to get inspired to commit to your healthy lifestyle. Sometimes you just need a little more support and a lot more “relate to me” than Wikipedia can offer. This is why blog reading, tweeting and FB stalking the heck out of my fellow community members is, well, inspiring and awesome—with a small side of creepy. We all do it, right?

Give a huge round of applause to the first link share series known as Breakout Bites of the Week:

Roasted Beets and Honey Dill Dip | Yes, I Want Cake

Maybe it is because I recently decided that I love beets. Or maybe it is because I was hooked on this post from the very first sentence that brought out Office induced laughter. But likely, it is because Katie blew me away with this inspired recipe that mimics chips and dips. As she said: “Slightly more effort, but also slightly (or infinitely) better.” I’m coming over!!

Find your Dosha: A Meal Plan for Body Type? | Life of Blyss

I have never been one to read my daily horoscope or a believer in “when the stars align.” However, I am always strangely surprised when some astrologic symbol knows me better than I know myself. That is how I felt about Alyssa’s post on finding your dosha that shared what my personality type was based on my body type—a component of Ayurvedic medicine that I find to be incredibly interesting. My body is super sensitive so it really got me thinking about what my body needs to rejuvenate and what to avoid so I don’t have tummy aches and pains all night. What is your dosha?

Sweet Tooth | Food, Fitness and Family

If there is one thing we all seek out when searching the intraweb it is a relatable story and BSW contributor Madeline did just that when she shared her sweet tooth story. I happen to have a salty tooth, but there is no doubt that battling your foodie nemeses is a major component in living a healthy lifestyle. I can’t praise Madeline enough for her honesty and for sharing her plan to get past the hump. Advice well received.

Lose Weight or Maintain Weight Loss? | Fun and Fit

Who doesn’t go gaga for the witty fit and fun twins? Personally, I can’t get enough of them.  As everyone knows my past dieting days have been less than a fairy book tale and to this day my lifestyle habits are still a work in progress. That is why I love this post. It is important to know where you are at with your weight to know where you are going so you can set the appropriate goals and move in the right direction. ! (Plus they learned all of this fabulous information in my hometown of Colorado so I am a little biased.) Thoroughly looking forward to the teaser article to come!

To Love Running, You Must Go Outside | Oatmeal in my Bowl

I’m a wanna-be runner and have complained on multiple occasions that I have never experienced a runner’s high so I was overly inspired by Christine when she found her love of running…since that is a dream statement for me to make. I love that she took a chance with a running club on Meetup.com and was thrilled to hear the positive vibes that were sent her way. One of my biggest fears is being a newbie in a race-like settings and she let out a huge sigh of relief coupled with a runner kick in the butt.

  1. Must run outside. 😉 I learned that from Ash (& diz) and it worked. luckily i just moved to picturesque scenery, so it helped, too.

totally find a meet up.com group. the one i joined was so supportive.

    Have fun finding your love!

  2. Great choices for your first weekly roundup! I love getting introduced to new (to me) bloggers, although I already knew 4 of the 5 this week…
