How To Use The Xbox One For Fitness

Xbox One Console

Game consoles are for more than just gaming, and there is no better example of that then the new Xbox One. Not only does it play games, but is also uses apps, plays movies, and lets you Skype while watching your favorite shows. In addition to all of that, the Xbox One can also be used as a fitness tool. The Kinect attachment that comes with game system enhances workout games unlike anything else on the market.

The purpose of the Kinect is to monitor your body’s movements and it even comes with its own app. While you are exercising, it can sense how many people are with you, monitor your heart beat, and keep track of your body’s weight distribution and exertion. Let’s take a look at 4 of the top fitness games and apps for the Xbox One.

The full version of this game won’t launch until spring 2014, but the pre-season version is pretty cool.  This game has tennis, bowling, and football which were also featured in older versions of the game. The new additions to this version are wake racing, target shooting and rock climbing. You can play by yourself or split screen with a friend. Instead of using a controller you use your body and your hands to control your character on the screen. For example, when you’re wake racing and you want to move forward you just open and close your hands, to move the Jet Ski just leave your body in that direction. 1. Wii was the first one I ever tried and I love it. I was sad to hear the news that it will soon be no longer! 🙁 I remember one winter when I went home it was roughly -30 every day, so we spent our days “skiing” on Wii as opposed to skiing outside! ha! Hey, it was amazing and got us active!
