This weekend Sony Pictures Animation presents Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2. This much anticipated sequel continues the story of Swallow Falls after Flint Lockwood’s genius invention covers the island with food. In this movie, Flint and his friends return to Swallow Falls to see what has become of the island. Not only is the island covered with food, but now it has Foodimals, adorable food-animal hybrids. As cute as some of the foodimals maybe, the mainland is in danger of being over-run by them. The characters have to take the journey through the entire island in order to reach the FLDSMDFR, destroy it, and the world from being taking over by food. We found three fun recipes that would make a memorable meal before you and your family head out to see this film.
Potato Leek Soup
The funniest commercial for this movie is when Flint screams “There’s a leek in the boat!” Of course, he is referring to the vegetable and not a actual hole in the boat. That hilarious moment inspired us to find some delicious leek recipes. Although you may be unsure of trying leeks, this soup will change how you feel about the vegetable. Potatoes, white pepper, chile powder and fresh thyme are some of the more interesting, yet familiar flavors you’ll find in this recipe. This recipe serves 8, so there will be enough for the whole family.
Tabasco Shrimp Tacos
This delectable shrimp tacos will remind you of the Shrimpanzees from the movie, in a good way. These tacos have a little kick, so for a less spicy version use less Tabasco sauce and less chile powder. The shrimp in this recipe are sauteed, not deep fried like in most fast food shrimp tacos, making it a healthier option. You can also try this recipe with bake of griiled shrimp. Tacos are always fun for dinner because everyone can customize there own toppings and make as many tacos as they can eat.
Yogurt Berry Pops
In Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, Sam the weather girl tries to keep a foodimal strawberry as a pet and wants to name him Barry. Every meal needs dessert and yogurt pops are an easy to make, homemade treat. All you need is greek yogurt, water, and your berries of choice (blackberries are pictured above). For extra flavor add honey, lemon, and sugar.
Love it
I never saw the first movie but I think I would love them because… I DO LOVE FOOD! ha ha ha!
