Daily Bite Wellness Tip - Counting Calories

Whenever you decide you want to shed a few pounds, what is the first thing you do? If you’re like most people, the first thought that popped into your head was probably “count calories.” Every day, we are bombarded by the various media outlets which tell us how many calories we should eat, when we should eat them, why we should them, how we should eat them, and so on and so forth. Well, recent research has shown that counting calories might not be necessary at all. A recent book by former trainer Jonathan Bailor explains that our bodies have a natural “set point” which our systems are able to maintain without diligent calorie counting. Our bodies are naturally capable of balancing themselves out and by simply concentrating on the quality of the food you’re consuming rather than the number of calories in it, you can stop partaking in the painstaking task of counting and start living instead.

  1. I do NOT count calories – nope! That would drive me crazy. I am not a numbers girl. I read the ingredients label. I make sure there is no trans fat, added sugars or funky ingredients in the foods I consume. That to me is far more important than the calorie count.
