What Are BB Creams, And Are They Healthy?

What are bb creams and are they healthy to use(via)

Cutting down your morning beauty routine can be a huge time saver. On mornings when you’re running late, you want a quick look that is glamorous and easy. The BB Cream was created exactly for this purpose. BB cream stands for beauty balm cream. They were invented by Dr.Christine Schranmerk, a German dermatologist who wanted a product that would protect her patients skin and give them coverage after receiving laser treatments. The average BB cream is suppose to replace your anti-aging moisturizer, face primer, sunscreen, concealer, dark spot corrector, and foundation.

These products first gained popularity in east and southeast Asia. They are now gaining popularity in the United States and are available in both high-end and drug store varieties. Smashbox, MAC, Maybelline, and Garnier are just some of the brands that have recently released  their own BB creams. Most beauty balms  creams have a limited shade range, with only 5 to 9 shades. The finish of a BB cream on your skin is natural matte; luminous but not oily. When applying this product, all you need are clean fingertips, but you can also use a makeup brush if you prefer.

Like most multi-tasking products, BB creams can’t do everything. For example, FDA regulations do not allow acne fighting ingredients and SPF in the same product. The sunscreen protection for beauty balms range from SPF 30 to SPF 50 and are excellent sunscreens. If you have acne prone skin,  use a moisturizer with acne fighting ingredients before applying your BB Cream.

Also, some BB creams fall short in some areas — whether they aren’t really moisturizing, or they don’t control the oil production in your t-zone. The only way to find out which one fits you best is to try samples of all the different brands until you find something you like.

You should wash your face before application and definitely remove the product at the end of the day like you would with regular makeup. There are no additional risks associated with BB creams as compared to foundation makeup or concealer. The best candidates for BB creams are those with normal and oily skin.

Have you ever tried using a BB cream?

  1. What I really want to know is WHAT ARE CC creams!! LOL! Complete Crap? LMFAO! I kind of feel like BB creams are “basically b-s”… It’s just a way of coaxing ladies to spend more on makeup that they don’t actually need.
