At Bite Size Wellness we strive to bring you the best of health and wellness one bite at a time. If you think about it, each day is made up of little bites that we make, say, see and do for our healthy lifestyle.
Sometimes that includes finding healthy inspiration and information on the health world via YouTube. Our latest watch: Cocoa-Cola’s Anti-Obesity Campaign.
We know what you are thinking…something along the lines of WTF. And like our friends at Healthy Way to Cook pointed out, the idea of a sugar-laden soft drink company making a stand about our weight seems laughable, but we are willing to give Coca-Cola a chance. So pick your jaw up from off the ground now.
PR stunt or not, as a country we listen to what the big dogs have to say about things and this is a voluntary business move to lower our junk food footprint. It is in our nature to follow the heard. So with legislators and the biggest beverage brand in America getting real about our soda intake our ears are perked up. And, at minimum they have us talking about it which can’t be ignored.
So what is the game plan for addressing the public health crisis?
They recently launched their first 2-minute video entitled “Coming Together” that discusses the country’s obesity issues. They market their lower-calorie drinks (after all, they are still wanting you to buy THEIR products and not substitute coke for water) and they discuss offering more portion-controlled cans with clear labeling. There is talk that in addition to noting calorie-intake the company may be putting the amount of activity you may need to do in order to burn off a soda.
We know it is Coca-Cola, but really, these steps are moving in a healthy direction.
