It’s safe to say that bright sunshine, warm temperatures, and everything else great about summer weather is best enjoyed by spending time outdoors. That isn’t to say, however, that there aren’t a few minor drawbacks to overdoing it with the outdoor exploring. One notorious source of summertime woes: pesky bugs and their viciously itchy bites.

Bug bites are not only annoying, but also potentially dangerous to our health. Mosquitoes and other critters are known for spreading diseases like West Nile Virus. Fortunately in our modern world we have a plethora of different products that can prevent bothersome bites, soothe our endless itching, and keep us safe from deadly illnesses. But are these products all safe? This is a question that has been surrounding the topic of bug spray for quite a while now, and it seems like unfortunately, the short answer to it is no. Many repellents contain chemicals that can pose certain health risks if not used properly (especially for children), and some natural ingredients are just not effective at keeping the bugs away.
