We are kicking off a new series on Bite Size Wellness called Spread the Wellness!
Think of it as a meet and greet with other health wellies on the web. The hope is to introduce you to new wellness fanatics or share some fun health insights on someone you already follow…because, let’s be real, the health community is a BIG family.
We love chatting with wellness thrivers because it is another way to keep health at the forefront of our mind and help us infuse our health perspectives with those of another.
So, without further ado, we want to introduce you to GiGi from the blog GiGi Eats Celebrities! If the name of her site doesn’t prove that she is a character, then perhaps this picture of her will seal the deal:
Needless to say, GiGi takes a lighthearted approach to health and wellness which we give a big round of applause to. Here is an inside look to GiGi’s healthy lifestyle!
Indoor or outdoor fitness freak? I am a slave to the elliptical trainer. The elliptical trainer is Jabba the Hut and I am Princess Leia, ha!
Favorite fitness tool (online on physical) and why? Well, don’t tell the “Jabba” aka, the elliptical but I cheat on him every so often with… a pilates reformer! You can call the reformer, Hon Solo! Okay, really I am not a huge Star Wars fan, so I am not quite sure where these references are coming from! But the reason why I cheat on the elliptical every so often is because pilates has a way of strengthening me without making me hate strength training! I think it’s because I have seen incredible results after a year and a half of practicing!
Worst healthy living experience? Probably the worst “healthy living” experience was when I woke up one night because it felt as if someone was stabbing me in the stomach. The pain wouldn’t subside and it turns out my large intestine twisted into a knot and had to be removed (we still have no idea why this happened). How is this healthy living, you might ask? Well, this experience has shaped my healthy living focus. My doctor’s told me that if my intestines were not removed I would have died, so now I certainly do not take my health for granted. Oh and by the way, this type of thing only really happens to dogs, amazing! Ha! Woof. Woof.
Go-to quick and healthy meal? My favorite meal on the FACE OF THE PLANET is spaghetti squash and salmon. I eat it almost nightly because it’s so quick and easy, yet I know it will always taste good! Salmon is like a best friend to me, it never lets me down! Oh and don’t even get me started about spaghetti squash, I could write a 15-paged love letter to this gourd! Lets just say, I can eat 15 pounds in two days!
What’s your favorite piece of fitness gear? A sports bra. I think every woman can agree with me! I don’t exactly have watermelons on my chest, but… I feel kind of awkward when I am working out sans bra… Considering all I wear when I work out is a sports bra. I would probably get arrested if I went topless at the gym, don’t you think? I mean… 24 Hour Fitness is not a topless beach in Nice, France.
If someone goes to LA what healthy hot spot should they visit? Los Angeles is FULL of healthy hot spots! It’s hard to pin-point just one! There are millions of yoga, pilates, cross fit, pure barre, etc gyms all over! The best thing someone can do when they come to Los Angeles is sample classes because typically the first one is free! To fuel up after the strenuous work out, head on over to my favorite sushi joint on Santa Monica Blvd, Echi Sushi! Not only will you be able to order brown rice sushi and customize rolls to your liking, but… You will see my pictures on the wall because I am such a crazy sushi fiend!
