Ashley is the beauty and brains behind Coffee Cake & Cardio. She is on a mission to live a healthy lifestyle no matter what obstacles get in her way which is exactly why we wanted to feature her in this week’s Spread the Wellness article.

We love how relatable Ashley is and even more, how honest. On Ashley’s quest to lose weight we get to experience many of her ups and downs, and you better believe that you or someone you know has gone through the same issues that she has had to conquer during her journey. One of our favorites: closet eating–a topic that is rarely talked about, but something that should be! We also get a glimpse of Ashley’s weekly plans (food and fitness), tips on how to keep your attitude and make the most of things, and a few recipes here and there.  And if you go back far enough in her archives her wedding experience!

Obviously there are lots of reasons to love Coffee Cake & Cardio, but if you need a few more read on! We were able to rack Ashley’s brain for more healthy lifestyle tips and just had to share:

Sweet or Savory:  Savory.  I’ll take an omelet over pancakes any day.

Techy health tip:  For WordPress users, install the WordPress Editorial Calendar plugin as a way to better organize your ideas and upcoming blog posts. When you have an idea, add it to the calendar.  You can always move it or delete it.  If you don’t use WordPress, consider creating a Google calendar just for blog posts.

Recommended treadmill read?  I am loving “How to Have Your Cake and Your Skinny Jeans Too”!  Josie Spinardi tackles Non-Hunger Eating with humor and science.

Biggest thing you’ve learned about weight loss:  Change is not linear! There will be ups and there will be downs.  Sometimes the downs last a while but you’ve got to keep moving forward!  Make yourself a priority and never stop learning.

Most used fitness item (and what do you love about it):  A great pair of shoes!  Right now I’m in love with my Reebok SmoothFlex.  A great pair of shoes can make a world of difference in your workouts.

Meal you would run a marathon for?  A Mexican fiesta!! I’m talking chips and queso, chili rellenos, refried beans, and margaritas!  I just love Mexican food.

    PS: I remember when I used to chow down on those hostess Coffee Cakes back in the day, without a care in the world!! Wow, I can even smell them – LOL!
