I’m one of those people who has to listen to music while working out. My intensity can be dependent on the jam playing through my head phones. A snappy, upbeat song can help push me over that hill (or not). And the perfect cool down song gives loads of satisfaction…”yes you made it to the end of your sweat session.” If you are anything like me, you ever have that ONE song that you always turn to when you are working your arms or flip to when you are ready to focus on your stomach? I’ll admit that I am still a sucker for “Toxic” to get me into the gym groove.
Music Monday is adding some versatility to your playlist and your workout by pairing a song from the top charts with a workout that fits the beat. It is a win-win: More songs to add to your playlist. More exercises to add to your workout routines.
I remember being a Maroon 5 fan during the days I worked at Hollister. But now I would say I am more of an Adam Levine addict fan. He is sexy and he knows it.
The most recent Maroon 5 jam from their Overexposed album has me bobbing my head to the reggae beats. The concept of the One More Night song is a bit on the subdued side as Levine plays a stressed-out boxer struggling to bring home the money for his baby and his wife (played by the beauty Minka Kelly)—it is about the typical push and pull of the mind and heart. The catchy summer song has a laid back rhythm, a thumping beat and bursts of that pop, dancey feel incorporated throughout. Pair that with Levine’s signature falsetto and you have yourself the perfect song to warm-up to before you Move Like Jagger for the rest of your workout.
Adam you can sing to me as your lady love anytime. And I won’t take your goldfish.
