safe and sound capital cities

For those of you just finding out about Capital Cities, they’re awesome. They released their first album In a Tidal Wave of Mystery in June and their song “Safe and Sound” has been #1 on the German and US Alternative charts. It’s slowly climbing up the US charts and is at number 16 for now. The video for “Safe and Sound” which is a choreography masterpiece (obviously, because it was directed by Mandy Moore) and featured 100 years of dancing history in an impressive mash-up of layered video.

But it’s time to get to business! Since “Safe and Sound” features an impressive list of different dances, we figured that there was nothing better than a high-intensity leg workout for this song! This workout will focus on those buns, calves, thighs, hammies and inner thighs so you can show off those gorgeous legs in your shortest pair of shorts this summer! For extra intensity, make sure you pulse and hold the rep at the hardest spot. For example, if you’re doing squats, hold at the bottom of the squat. However, make sure you don’t lock any of your joints during any point of the exercise, because it will severely inhibit the entire exercise. By locking your joints you’re not letting your muscles do any of the work.

To include a little cardio, you can add jumping jacks and restrict the amount of time between exercises to keep your heart rate up. Always remember to focus on your breathing, stretch after and drink plenty of water during the workout! You’ll be up and dancing in a mini-dress to show off those legs in no time!
