The wait is over. Three years ago, audiences marveled at the screen as Chris Evans graced us with his presence in Captain America: The First Avenger. We watched in excitement as the scrawny Steve Rogers turned into the most powerful superhero in the world and ultimately saved America from complete destruction. Well, On April 4th he is back at it in Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier. Steve Rogers is still getting used to life of the present day, when he suddenly becomes mixed up in a world-threatening situation. Being Captain America, he springs into action, coming to know his newest enemy, The Soviet Winter Soldier.
For this week’s dinner and a movie, BSW is getting amped up for Captain America 2 by watching Captain America: The First Avenger and The Avengers and eating some good ol’ traditional American food. Sometimes it is hard to find foods that are through and through American (since we are quite the melting pot of a country), but this one is an American dish for certain. Pair it with some corn on the cob and biscuits, and you’ve got yourself a Captain America hearty meal.

Never forget your American greens, smothered in butter and cream of course. Popeye may have made spinach the popular vegetable to eat in America, but only the Americans could make it delicious by turning healthy into fattening. Add this side dish to your meatloaf and you’ve got a meal!

There is nothing more American than warm, homemade apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. Every superhero must have a favorite dessert, and we assume Captain America’s would be apple pie.
