All of the food labels say that the nutrition facts are based on a 2,000 calorie diet. But, what does a 2,000 calorie diet look like anyway?
The masterminds at BuzzFeed decided to investigate what 2,000 calories looks like in the form of our common eats. BuzzFeed created a quick video that shows the exact number of almonds, bananas or pieces of bacon (and other common eats!) you would need to eat to equal 2,000 calories. We are not condoning indulging in 285 almonds in one sitting, but when you separate your eats into 3 meals (or 5 mini meals) over the span of an entire day it is hard to visualize what 2,000 consumed calories actually looks like. And now we know.
Beware, the video also gives us insight on the quantity you would need to consume of some popular food chain fare like Chipotle’s burritos, Cinnabon’s cinnamon buns and Cosi’s cobb salad.
Needless to say, we feel enlightened on what 2,000 calories ACTUALLY looks like and how we should (or should not) follow the nutrition label.
Take a look for yourself!

I would like to see what 2,000 calories of salmon looks like, and compare it with what I eat on a daily basis, I have a feeling my portion would be pretty close – LOL!
Yeah a lot of people were commenting that they should have chosen healthier items rather than bacon and french fries so maybe they will create another version.
Really interesting! Not surprising to me since I know you can’t out-train a bad diet & it adds up fast!!! 🙂
I’m a visual person so seeing everything laid out was fascinating!
