Daily Bite Make - Crunchy Chickpeas

At Bite Size Wellness we strive to bring you the best of health and wellness one bite at a time. If you think about it each day is made up of little bites that we make, say, see and do for our healthy lifestyle.

Sometimes that includes drooling over great recipes like these Crunchy Chickpeas from Cooking Light.

Crunching is one thing we need to do daily. You could call us a chip-aholic, but with healthy alternatives like crispy chickpeas we are way more sophisticated in our munching than the general population. Or so we tell ourselves.

We love this recipe for many reasons. First, it is incredibly simple—a two-step process! And two, we have culinary freedom to flavor as we wish with every spice in our cabinet.

Here is another Daily Bite we are urging you to make.

Go on…the kitchen is calling.

Ingredients

  • 2 (15 1/2-ounce) cans organic chickpeas (garbanzo beans), rinsed and drained
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 garlic clove, minced

Preparation

1. Preheat oven to 300°.

2. Wrap chickpeas in a towel; lightly roll to loosen skins. Discard skins. Combine chickpeas and remaining ingredients. Arrange on a baking sheet. Bake at 300° for 1 hour and 40 minutes, stirring every 20 minutes.

  1. Ooh, I adore chickpeas, and I do live crunchy snacks. I’d like to make these but think I would wait until I ha an event to take them to. Living alone, These sorts of convenient crunchies are sometimes too easy to not stop eating. Although these look like they would be a pretty healthy thing to overeat. Hehe, watch out, next thing you know I’ll be goug crazy with the carrots;)
