It’s temptation season.
There are extra calories and treats lurking around every corner, on your neighbor’s counter, at every holiday event. By New Year’s Day you may have put on a couple pounds and added “lose weight” to the resolution list…again.
Portion sizes should be at the forefront of your mind every day, but especially during the holiday season. Go on portion patrol by:
- Pacing yourself. Chew slowly and set your fork down between bites.
- Keeping track of your BLT’s (bites, licks and tastes). You may have indulged in several hundred calories before the entrée is even served.
- Diverting your attention to the people, not the food.
- Remembering your portion sizes by matching them with other everyday objects.
Today’s video from Live Better America explains how visualization is the key to controlling portions:
Portion control your breakfast by making them into kebabs! Martha Stewart shared a recipe for French toast kabobs that will appeal to you because it looks plentiful and more than a single piece of toast sitting on a big white plate. Pancakes may be next up to get skewed!

Do you have to practice portion control more during the holidays? Have you ever had a breakfast kebab?
