Trust us…it sounds a lot scarier than it is. We are a fan of this move because it is an excellent core exercise that hits the upper and lower abs and the twist works those obliques too. “chopping wood” can help you with all activities from lifting groceries to sports. Having a strong core helps ward off back pain too. Basically the reverse wood chop is an excellent exercise to add to your workout routine.

How to get your sweat on:

    1. Grab a medicine ball and stand with your feet shoulder-width apart.
    2. Keeping your arms straight, hold the ball to the outside of your right hip and perform a squat.
    3. Press your feet into the ground and “chop” the medicine ball diagonally across your body so that your legs are straight and the ball is now above your left shoulder.
    4. Repeat 10 times and then switch to the other side.

Easy as that!
