Why Working Out In 2015 Just Got A Whole Lot Easier

Fifth grade gym class, you’re sitting there with all your friends and the gym teacher comes over to tell you what you’ll be doing in class today. Sit-ups, push-ups, pull-ups, and running….basic stuff right?

This is what we are going back to. So no need to get all nervous and think the hip and cool new fitness trends for 2015 are going to cost you a fortune because that is not the case. Body weight training is where it’s at this year! Which, by the way is just a fancy way of saying working out with your body – no equipment required.

Exercises can range from upper to lower body and can be done on your own or in a body weight training class. What about trying those trendy joy ride studios or crazy crossfit classes? Those will be around for a while and probably never go away but sometimes we don’t have the time or don’t have the money to drop $25+ per class. All your need is your body!

According to the Washington Post, “…more than 3,400 health and fitness professionals, ranked body weight exercises as the top trend for this year.”

Another health trend? Functional fitness which is essentially a type of work out comprised of doing real life activities in your real life – is something else catching the attention of many. Why exactly? Think about it this way: You can bench press the most weight you have ever lifted in the gym and then go home, pick your dog up off the floor and throw your back out because you didn’t prepare your body for everyday functions like that. Functional fitness tones your whole body, and can also be done with minimal equipment at home. These exercises improve muscular endurance, overall strength, coordination, balance, posture and agility.

This doesn’t mean you cannot use all the cool fitness technology and wear all the stylish fitness clothes in the process…because those will never go out of style. Fitness bands, smart phone apps, online videos, yoga pants, Nike’s and more are all here to stay in 2015!
