Daft Punk has finally released a new album, “Random Access Memories,” and we’re going gaga over it! (Cough, cough, tour already!)
Anyway, for this Music Monday how could we not be inspired by their catchy, funky single “Get Lucky” — especially since it’s been #3 on The Hot 100 for 8 weeks in a row?
We’re hoping that this workout will help you get lucky and stay up ’til the sun for some good fun! (Did I fit in enough references there?) We also wanted this workout to be somewhat dance-inspired to get you moving and grooving while keeping your heart rate high, like being at a concert! “Get Lucky” features some awesome guitar riffs, a great beat, and some throwback elements to the disco era to get your butt on the dance floor (or, in this case, into the gym!). This workout aims at the glutes, thighs, calves while adding in a boost of cardio so you can dance right through your next workout and have the stamina to wait in line for tickets to their next show! Oh wait.
To maximize the effectiveness of this workout, we’ve chosen to alternate cardio intensive exercises with muscle building ones. To ramp up the difficulty, add weights, repetitions or time. Remember to keep your core tight and pause at the peak difficulty point (so your muscles shake) during each rep! Also, keep breathing in mind when doing the muscle building exercises; it’ll even help strengthen your core and improve your balance. If you’re craving more electro-pop music, listen to the rest of Daft Punk’s album and work a different muscle group for each song! Just always make sure to stretch your legs and cool down after your workout to avoid soreness, stiffness and injuries.
I am HUGELY OBSESSED with this song, HUGELY!! ha ha ha! It actually really makes me laugh because it’s so true!
