It looks like it’s that time of year again! Time to get back on your feet and ready to dance because Dancing with the Stars is back for an eighteenth season and they are armed with an all-star cast. While the season premiere is barely 2 weeks away on March 17 (ABC, 8 pm) we are just now finding out about the star-studded participants. Buckle up your seat belts, because it’s going to be a good one!
First up, we’ve got Sochi Olympic Gold Medalists, Charlie White and Meryl Davis. Fresh off that Olympic ice, the dynamic duo is bound to wow and dominate. Right? We sure hope they are as swift on their feet as they are on their skates! While we can guess that they probably are, it will be interesting to see how they fare without each other as partners.
Nene Leakes, Real Housewives of Atlanta star – who has dabbled in television shows such as The New Normal and Glee – will also appear on the long-running competition show. We are quite excited for her to show off her (surely) amazing dance moves and maybe even get a glimpse at her sassy personality. Leakes says her main reason for appearing on the show is to get fit and healthy again. After her health scare last November, the TV personality thinks this is the perfect opportunity to get back on track.
Drew Carey, comedian-turned-TV-show-host for The Price is Right, will also star on the dance floor and we are interested in seeing just how he will do. We have to be honest here, picturing Carey on the dance floor is not something we do often but that might just be why he was chosen. Funny-man-Carey is sure to provide a few laughs, but whether or not he will surprise us with the moves is yet to be seen.
Another big name this season would be Australian, teen, heart throb Cody Simpson. The singer/musician will undoubtedly have the girls’ vote, but they better pray his sense of rhythm helps him keep up with the beat!
These aren’t the only names featured on this season’s Dancing With the Stars, though. “The Wonder Years” star Danica McKeller, former “Full House” cast member Candace Cameron Bure, and the great Billy Dee Williams are a few more of the actors which will be featured on the show. Actors don’t get all the attention, however, with many athletes also making an appearance. Someone has to keep up with Charlie and Meryl, right?
Swimming legend Diana Nyad will participate as well as hockey player Sean Avery. Perhaps more impressively, double-amputee snowboarding champion Amy Purdy will compete this season – marking a first in Dancing With the Stars history. Never before has a Paralympian competed on the show, so we are excited to see her triumph!
While the cast is almost always the focus of this show, Dancing with the Stars is making some other changes that are likely to turn the contestants on their heads. Half way through, the stars are supposedly required to switch partners. It will be interesting to see how this affects the dancing, competition, and even attitudes!
Which contestant are you rooting for?

This might be my favorite cast in the past couple of seasons!!! I actually know some of the names! FINALLY – I really hope this show can re-vamp because it’s definitely lagging, so much so, that I probably only watch the first and last episodes these days! 🙁
