When you think of a hula hoop or jump rope, you probably associate them with being a little kid. But did you know that these two classics are actually amazing exercise tools? It’s true. So, if you’re thinking of adding a little fun to your workout, we’ve got the lowdown on which of these two is better for your body.
In the video above, fitness expert Tony Cuviello breaks down the pros and cons of each. Both hula hoop exercise and jump rope exercise will work your core to the max. However, jumping rope is an excellent form of cardio. It will also open up your wrist, which will feel especially nice for all of you office workers out there. It’s important to keep in mind though, that when you jump, you’re always risking injury.
On the other hand, hula hooping is all about your joints, so it will increase your flexibility and, if we’re going to be honest, it’s a lot more fun than jumping rope! There is one major con to hula hooping though, it would take you a really long time of swirling around to replace a normal workout.
So, who wins supreme when it comes to which is better for your body? Well, in the end, Cuviello says both are great, and as soon as you start using one of these classics you’ll feel like a kid again.
