Tech Tuesday: 0 to 5K Run Training App Review

bite size wellness tech tuesday 0 to 5k app

We’ve all gone to the gym and envied those people that can run 3-4 miles on the treadmill and look good while doing it. You think in your head, if only I could finish a mile without feeling like I’m dying. But lucky for you, an app has been created and it’s called 0 to 5K Run Training. And, to verify that this app actually can help you go from not even knowing how to run to running a 5K in about 8 weeks, I will tell you that I used it and by the end of my training, I participated in a Memorial Day 5K Race and finished. It’s a miracle app. To start, I couldn’t run half a mile without stopping for rest, and by the end of my 8th week, I was in the perfect shape to run 3 miles, and finish it in under 30 minutes.

Basically, what makes this app efficient – and doesn’t scare you away from it immediately – is that you are given a gentle introduction to get the body moving, starting off alternating between walking and running small distances and slowly building up. After 8 weeks, your body is ready to run 5 kilometers or just about 30 minutes non-stop. All you have to do is run and walk the amount that they tell you. Do it 3 times a week and you will be on the road to success.

0 to 5k app review 2

You’re able to post and update your profile and share your progress with other app users as well, and so far, 4.2 million people have completed the app’s training process. The reviews from other users are nothing but positive remarks: “Follow the plan and you will be a runner,” another user claimed that the app “changed my whole lifestyle.” The results for people have been life changing. So why couldn’t it change yours as well? The app is free, so what’s stopping you? Get on the treadmill, follow the app’s directions and your body and running skills will transform before your very eyes.

Pros

  • Its free! Who doesn’t love free apps?
  • Very low commitment. You run/walk 3 times a week, for about 20-30 mins.
  • You can run at your own speed. This app just focuses on running for time.

Cons

  • No one will force you to do this. It will be all on you to make time for it and make it happen.
  • There are no tutorials on stretching before and afterwards.
