Dinner and a Movie: Happy Birthday Angelina Jolie!

This week’s dinner and a movie is in honor of the mesmerizing Angelina Jolie. With all of the hype in recent weeks on her role as Maleficent in Maleficent, and her 39th birthday on June 4th, we just  had to dedicate a post to the beauty. Jolie made a splash since the moment she stepped on the Hollywood scene back in the late 80’s. She was the stunning, challenging, rebel-turned-humanitarian that no one could stop talking about. Her marriage to Brad Pitt and her subsequent creation of a large family certainly made some noise as well. Whether the media is giving her negative attention or positive, Jolie is always cool, calm, and collected, which is something we admire her for, (almost as much as we admire her for her talent). Let’s watch a few of the scorching hot actress’ movies for this week’s dinner and a movie in honor of her 39th birthday!

Girl, Interrupted + Open Faced Egg Sandwiches (via Design Sponge)

In one of her most chilling performances, Angelina Jolie plays Lisa, a girl in a mental institution. Jolie’s acting in this movie won her an Academy Award for best supporting actress. This was rightfully so, as her performance as a manipulative sociopath was quite memorable. When thinking about what to pair this movie with, the best theme we could come up with was cafeteria food, which is obviously less than desirable. Instead of subjecting you to half cooked meat sandwiches, we are putting a spin on traditional cafeteria food with these open faced egg sandwiches. They are the perfect appetizer to get your dinner and a movie going!

This may have been the movie to ruin a marriage, but at least it started another beautiful one, right? Jolie and Brad Pitt have undeniable smoking hot chemistry in this film and watching it almost feels as though you might be looking in on their real marriage. The scene of the two spies meeting in Latin America speaks for itself. This movie is being paired with a ceviche, which is a raw fish dish common in Spanish-influenced countries. Just imagine what a ceviche made by this couple would taste like… hopefully it is minus the poison.

The Tourist + Artisinal Margherita Pizza (via This Grand Adventure)

Never has Angelina Jolie been as ravishing than as a con artist – with Venice as her backdrop. With Johnny Depp as her “romantic interest”, there is really too much beautiful for one screen to handle. Although this film didn’t receive rave reviews, it was nominated for three Golden Globes. You be the judges as you create your own margherita pizzas for the showing. Nothing like watching a movie set in Italy with some homemade pizza!

My birthday is coming up… If someone were to dedicate meals to me on my birthday, I think they would make – fried salmon skin. LOL! And salmon baked with clam sauce! 😉
