The Biggest Loser Episode 6: Roll of the Die

We are halfway point of the season and the weight loss efforts of the remaining contestants are the Biggest Loser Ranch are starting to show—on their physique and in the way the hold themselves. With each pound lost a little more confidence is gained.

What did we learn in last night’s episode of The Biggest Loser?

  • When you lead others will follow. Don’t wait for someone else to initiate your healthy lifestyle for you!
  • Keep a picture of “where you were” nearby so you can remember how far your healthy lifestyle efforts have brought you (hi, dice pictures from day 1).
  • Don’t mess with a World Champion Fighter like Laila Ali in a Last Chance Workout

As it is with every episode, there is a twist. Ali tells the contestants that the weight of only one person on each team will count at the weigh-in. [Insert gasps.] AND, they won’t know who that player will be until the official weigh-in ceremony. Danni, the sole member of Jillian’s white team, knows what it is like to have the entire weight of a team on her shoulders which in some ways is an advantage because she knows she can only depend on herself. Gina, on the other hand, does not. The thought of being the member of the blue team to carry the team through stresses her out and her insecurities come pouring out of her eyes. Bob is having none of it and encourages Gina to “bring it on” so that her fear of standing out in a crowd doesn’t keep weighing her down. Literally.

Between Gina’s crying and poor Jackson’s endless vomiting during his workout it is just another day on The Biggest Loser Ranch.

While the adults are sweating it out, Jillian, Bob and Dolvett Skype with the child contestants about leading by example and are encouraged to motivate those around them. After the coaches words of wisdom Biingo recruits more kids to participate in his after-school workout program. Sunny involves her classmates in a circuit training program and Lindsay gives a brave speech to her peers on anti-bullying.

At the weigh-in the team representatives are chosen. For blue team Jeff is picked, Joe for read team and of course, Danni stood tall being the last remaining white team member.

Challenge time! After a roll of a dice, one contestant is chosen to represent their team in an obstacle course challenge. The course was physical and mental because after crossing the treacherous balance beam, the challenge rep has to bring a plate of food back across the beam and match it with the correct calorie count. Danni wins and is rewarded with letters from home. More crying followed by a burst of motivation from the last remaining white team member.

At the weigh-in…

  • Dolvett rolls and the dice lands on Joe.
  • Jeff will be representing for the blue team after Bob’s roll.
  • Jillian does nothing since she can only count on Danni to get her through.

After the weigh-ins (and many dramatic commercial breaks), the blue team lands in the bottom and David gets the majority of votes.  This is the first loss for the blue team so far this season.

David will not be The Biggest Loser but the clip sharing where he is now shows that he is going in the right direction. He has already lost 87 pounds at home and doesn’t have to use his knee brace anymore.
