Another month down. Another Foodie Pen Pal package to enjoy thanks to Lindsay at The Lean Green Bean.
Apparently I have some serious work to do on my Foodie Pen Pal package presentation. I admit…I enjoy the entire process of shopping for treats and getting to know new like-minded friends and bloggers, but when it comes to the shipment I get low marks on creative packaging. Please forgive me! I vow to work on it.
This month I was completely spoiled and blown away by the thoughtful presentation and even more considerate goodies that reader Janet sent me from Rochester Public Market—a market that has been open since 1905 that she attends ever Saturday! I am envious and want to make a trip to Rochester immediately.
Everything was so adorably wrapped that I didn’t want to open anything…
But of course I did because I was dying to know what was inside.
To start…garlic scapes! So fun to get an item that was featured in BSW’s Weekly Bite, right? I have been adding them to every meal because you all know I love my garlic. Delicious in pasta and eggs and…I could go on and on.
I had told Janet that I was a peanut butter fan and she did not disappoint. The Asian inspired peanut butter by The Peanut Principle is so interesting and tasty. Janet told me that it was delicious to top on rice and veggies. I have yet to try it besides eating it right off the spoon! I love the light coconut flavor and can’t wait to incorporate it into a meal.
One of my favorite things about my Foodie Pen Pal package is the recipes that were included to go along with the mushroom and garlic orzo (from Janet’s favorite pasta vendor Flour City) and a black bean burger recipe from one of Janet’s new cookbook The Best Veggie Burgers that I can use the textured vegetable protein she sent. This product is new to me so I can’t wait to try it out. Please not the Wegman’s mountain rice blend and curried cashews. Like I said…SPOILED!
I also was given a unique orange and ginger spice blend that will be perfect on chicken, fish or shrimp for a light summer meal.
And speaking of summer…one of my favorite beat the heat drinks is ice tea. Janet sent me FOUR Tea Forte flavors to cool off with.
I have come to love my right off the subway corner store, but I was happy to be reminded that I need to spend more time going to markets so I can get my hands on more unique eats like these.
So grateful that Lindsay, founder of the Foodie Pen Pal program, connected us! THANK YOU very, very much Janet!
Check out what I sent Texas spice lover Nicole from Nicole on a Mission.

That looks amazing! So cute that she wrapped everything and awesome that she included recipes. Love Foodie Pen Pals!
It was adorable. Like I said…I didn’t want to open anything up because it was so cute. Thanks for stopping by Carrie!
So much great stuff on here! That seasoning shake sounds really cool and convenient. I’d love to join the foodie pen pal but I don’t know if I could be committed due to time and stuff. Hopefully someday though! 🙂
It is a month to month program so if one month you can commit and the next month you can’t you are allowed to do that. I hope one day you try it out. I love it!
Oh My! Your goodies look great! I need to search for the orange ginger spice blend. I’m getting so bored of my mixes.
Such a creative blend! I never would have thought to mix those flavors together. Great summer spice!
Im no foodie.
I THINK THIS IS ALL SO COOL 🙂
I may want in….
The tornado would have a BALL getting fun packages like this in the mail. DO IT!
Talia, Happy your are enjoying your package!
I did, I did! Thanks again Janet!
