If you are like me any opportunity to stay in a hotel is one of the joys of vacation. And, unless the room is a complete wreck I don’t think twice about the fact that millions of other people have slept in the same room and left their mark via germs throughout my home away from home. I cross my fingers that the cleaning crew did their job and don’t lose sleep over it.
But the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has introduced their new “StayWell” Rooms that have brought the idea of a healthy hotel room to a new level. The rooms are designed to help reverse jetlag, promote sleep, reduce allergens and toxins, improve air quality and even promote healthy skin.
Bring on the cucumber slices and a masseuse and it might as well be a spa that you get to sleep in.
Here are the “StayWell” Room features:
- Most lights skew to the red side of the color spectrum to help induce a better night’s sleep
- Blue bathroom light helps you wake up
- Two air filtration filters that are cleaned with high-end vacuums for cleaner air and less germs
- Vitamin C infuser in the shower
- Antimicrobial coating on door knobs and furniture
- Cleaning crew uses UV wands to help sanitize
How much more are you paying to get these additional premiums? Tack on an extra $30 a night.
Take a look for yourself with this video from Wall Street Journal Live:
A breakfast like this sour cherry French toast from Aida Mollenkamp screams to “eat me in bed.” You just have to envision you are in the “StayWell” Room while you eat it.

Thirty bucks? Cheap!
Not bad at all! I’d definitely give it a try.
