Bytes for Breakfast: Hugh Jackman’s Dangerous Diet + a Hydrating Smoothie

We talked about the amazing (and healthy) transformation of Kelly Osbourne, but Hugh Jackman’s diet for his role in Les Miserables is another story.

The very dedicated actor went without water for 36 hours before filming the opening scenes of Les Miz to get that refined check look. We thought that is what make-up was for, but apparently being a celebrity involves remembering your skillset from Bear Grylls in Man vs. Wild.

His overly zealous move for sunken eyes and cheeks may have done wonders to the first few minutes of the film, but Jackman’s state was anything but healthy. He experienced massive headaches and dizziness. He also lost about 20 pounds so that people thought he was “sick.” Everything about this screams “where is the Hollywood nutritionist!?”

So for those of us who think the Hollywood life is easy-peasy, think again. You may end up like Jackman without water and completely haggard. This brings the word “hangry” to a whole new level.

Ellen chats with the star more in today’s Bytes for Breakfast video:

Hydration is a key part of a healthy diet, so we will not be forgoing our H2O for refined cheek bones. Instead we drink smoothies for breakfast, no matter the temperature outside. Bring on the coconut mango smoothie with lime from Daily Bites Blog. Your winter skin loves this too.

What do you think of Hugh’s extreme diet? Do you drink smoothies in the winter?
