Bobby Flay Fit Recap: Episode 1 on Moderation

Bobby Flay is getting real…and we love it.

Food Network launched a new seven-part web series called Bobby Flay Fit. It is the first-ever fitness programming on FoodNetwork.com which is pretty exciting news for the well-known food hotspot.

The premise of the show is to follow Bobby around and get healthy lifestyle tips from food to fitness straight from the celebrity chef’s mouth. He truly practices what he preaches: a no-diet mentality that uses a lot of common sense and a committed fitness routine. It is refreshing to hear someone whose living involves talking about, eating and cooking food say that he doesn’t like the word diet.

The first short episode for the web series is about 5 minutes and is packed to the brim with tips on moderation—a staple to a healthy lifestyle. In Episode 1 Bobby we get to see Bobby Flay behind the scenes. He talks to us on his walk from his NYC apartment to work where he prepares lunch for his team. (Jealous much?) The entire time he is sharing his insight on bringing moderation into your healthy lifestyle.

Needless to say we are excited to see where the mini-series goes. Take a look at episode 1 for yourself here.

Here are some key takeaways from the first episode:

  • Even moderate exercise makes a difference. If you can’t run 3+ miles a day, moderate walking will have a big impact on your health.
  • Skip the late night binging. Your body needs time to digest so earlier meals are better for you.
  • You don’t have to give up pasta, butter or cream. In fact, Bobby makes a dish with all of them for his team. You won’t have to drench the treadmill in sweat to make up for it if you just practice portion control.
  • Portion control takes discipline but think of Bobby’s mentality: “the 20th bite is not going to taste better than the 3rd or 4th bite, so if you don’t need it, don’t eat it.”
  • We are definitely digging Bobby’s no-diet way of life. Eating right can easily be ingrained as who you are and doesn’t have to be a thing you are doing.
  • We have to get into Bobby’s office ASAP so we can have him casually cook us lunch. (REALLY?!)
Check back next Monday for our recap on episode 2 of Bobby Flay Fit.

What do you think of the Food Network launching a fitness related series? Do you practice any of Bobby’s tips on moderation?
