This Not That: Eyeshadow Palettes

Shopping for makeup is no walk in the park. Sure it may all seem glamorous initially, but finding the right brands, shades, and textures for your skin type or eye color of complexion is much harder than you’d think. Sometimes, even when you find a product you think is great, it malfunctions two hours into wearing it. There is nothing worse than trying out your brand new eye shadow palette only to find out that it wears terribly and clumps in the creases of your eyelid in a matter of hours. Have no fear, This Not That is here! We’re comparing two brands of eye shadow palettes, in similar color schemes and price ranges, to find out which brand makes a better product.

Finding the right eye shadow is like having a great hair day. People say the eyes are the windows to the soul, and I say those eyelids should never be left clumpy, bare, or poorly decorated. The two brands we’re comparing this week are Urban Decay and Too Faced. Both have palettes with pale browns, nudes, and browns in them. We’re determined to find out which product is more worth your while!

Too Faced Naked Eye Shadow Palette: This compact eye shadow palette features nine eye shadows in an array of colors to create natural, sultry, beautiful eyes. The colors range from almost black to pale pink and some offer a shimmer that promises to make your eyes glimmer in the light. Perfect for day time or night time, this eye shadow palette can be used in a variety of settings.

Pros:

  • relatively affordable
  • can be found at Sephora or online
  • comes with nine colors

Cons:

  • Doesn’t always wear well
  • Palette seems to run out quickly
  • no brush included

Urban Decay Naked Eye Shadow Palette: This palette overs a wide variety of colors and shades so you can show off your eye style this year. From blues to peach, there’s a color in this palette for every occasion. This Naked palette is one of three palettes in the Naked collection of Urban Decay products.

Pros:

  • Can be purchased in Sephora or online
  • comes with 12 colors in a variety of shades
  • comes with a brush

Cons:

  • slightly expensive
  • doesn’t come with a good grey color
  • only a small amount of each color

The Verdict: Urban Decay’s Naked eye shadow palette is a better bang for your buck. Although it is slightly more expensive, it definitely has a wider variety of color choices, and it comes with more shadows in the palette. The Urban Decay palette also comes with a brush included so you don’t have to purchase one in addition to the eye shadow. It wears really well and the color stays on and clump free all day!

What kind of eye shadow do you use?

I am on the market for a new eye shadow palette so this comes at the PERFECT TIME!! I like Bobbi Brown, but I can definitely adopt either of these for sure! 🙂 I just need to learn how to put it on better!

I am a big fan of bobi brown, but the naked urban decay looks really cool, and I agree with you that Naked brand is far more affordable as compared to bobi brown.
