This Month in the Mags Round-Up: February Issues

These days, there are magazines focused on everything. Whether you’re into running, cooking, celebrities, or electronic music—there will be something on the newsstands for you. You can enjoy a magazine by flipping through their glossy pages or even by downloading and swiping through on your smart phone, but there will always be one thing for certain: magazines are a great way to read snippets of information about the topics you love. Kind of like Bite Size Wellness…what a coincidence!

For this week’s Link Love post we wanted to share with you what you can expect to read in the Month of Love.

Be Chic with Vanity Fair

Vanity Fair is always chock full of well written articles and when a celebrity that we love graces the cover we are sure to pick up a copy. Jennifer Lawrence, this issue’s cover girl, has shot up into stardom for far more than just her movie The Hunger Games. She is the definition of a “real woman”—curves and all. We love how she is named the world’s “most desirable woman” right here on the cover. What else can you expect for February’s Vanity Fair: DIY Oscar beauty tips, pics of Adam Levine and getting in point(e) with Brazilian ballerina Carla Korbes.

Be Nerdy with Discover

This pick may seem random, but when you look at the feature articles in this issue of Discover you’ll see why we were interested in it. This science magazine has a lot more than just technology and planets. The articles on healthcare and life science are what draw us in the most. A bunch of these 100 top stories of 2012 are about caring for your body from the inside out. Any wellness junkie with a nerdy side will love this read as well. What else we are psyched about: how to handle social jet lag and a census of your insides—crazy!

Be Fit with Fitness Magazine

Fitness magazine is a great overall read. Just from looking at the cover you can see that they have articles on healthy cooking, well-being, exercise and nutrition tips. The article titled “The Protein Mistake Women Make” is a really great piece to educate readers about why protein is so important and how much your body needs. For example, we learned that a 130lb woman needs 47g of protein per day. More to love about Fitness: Tricks to ditch your winter weight and how to prevent your sweat sessions from wrecking your skin.

Be At Ease with Real Simple

Readers should treat Real Simple like a cheat sheet for building a healthy lifestyle simply. The articles range from how to give yourself a mental health makeover, to little tips and tricks to navigating healthy food and products.  One article that we love from the February issue is about reading food labels and the true meanings of confusing terms such as “extra lean,” “light,” and “made with real fruit.” Sure, they may seem self-explanatory, but if you read the article you will see how most of us have been incorrect for years. More February things to simplify: your exercise routine, your love life and your sleeping habits.

Be Even More Beautiful with New Beauty Spa

New Beauty Spa is a perfect magazine for anyone who wants to be balanced on both the inside and outside. This issue in particular focuses in on four topics by discussing the latest trends and giving some great facts along the way. There is an article about “spa vacations” around the world, outlining what each world famous destination has to offer and showing a world map with pinpoints to see them all at once. It even categorizes them based on what you are interested in! Want to go to a yoga retreat? There is a list for you. Interested in some good old R&R? Relax away at one of the destinations on the list. After your spa-cation is plan you can also read about removing the stress from your beauty routine and using yoga to transform you.
