This week was all about nutrition on a budget, and we learned:
- Eating healthy foods is just as important as exercise;
- It pays to spend most of your time and budget in the fresh food aisle;
- Greek yogurt is a good substitute for sour cream; and
- Being hungry makes people cranky.
When the contestants get back from their morning workout, the kitchen cabinets are empty. They have to meet Hostess Cupcake in the supermarket and shop for a full week’s worth of groceries, and they only get $10 per person per day and 15 minutes to shop.
The Red Team and the Blue Team made it out of the store within budget, but then there’s Danni. How does one large woman eat for a week on $70? Well, we’re going to find out because she only spent $61 on food. My goodness girl, you’ve got $9 left in your budget, grab a bottle of red!
The Red Team has won three out of four weigh-ins, and they’re going for another win. Meanwhile, Bob is strategizing with the Blue Team. He knows that Jillian is going to work her only White Team contestant hard, so he needs to push the Blue Team even harder.
Danni’s personal trainer, Jillian, knows that her client does not respond to yelling. So Jillian takes a softer approach—so soft that I can hardly hear her speak. MORE SHOUTING, JILLIAN!
A healthy comfort food chef visits the ranch and teaches everyone to make a meal that feeds six people for $20. It’s a sweet potato filled with turkey, salsa, and Greek yogurt. I would happily eat all of those ingredients separately, but together it looks…interesting.
At the workout, Bob digs into Alex and Gina. While it motivates Alex, it has the opposite effect on Gina. She’s feeling the pressure of the weigh-in and the constant workouts and is just being super whiney.
Challenge! Dealing with nutrition on a budget is only half the battle, and getting fit is the other half. Winners get ten memberships to Planet Fitness and the winning team has a choice between a 2 lb advantage on the scale or a chance to call home. The teams have to fill a fountain in the middle of a pond with coins which weigh 5 lbs each. Danni is a super good swimmer, so she’s doing really well. It also helps that she doesn’t have any sinkers on her team holding her back . The Red Team is catching up, but Danni wins by herself and takes the 2 lb advantage.
After a grueling Last Chance Workout, it’s time for the weigh-in.
Red Team: Joe lost 11 lbs; Francelina lost 7 lbs; Jackson sports a little bit of butt crack and lost 8 lbs; and Lisa lost 5 lbs.
Blue Team: Gina lost 9 lbs; Michael did not loose his moobs but did shed a whopping 13 lbs; Jeff also lost 13 lbs; David lost 10 lbs; and Alex lost 10 lbs. This puts the Blue Team in the lead.
White Team: Danni needs to lost 5 lbs (plus the 2 lb advantage) in order to stay in this, and plows right past that with a 9 lb weight loss.
With the Red Team losing, they have to decide which team member to send home. Joe has the highest percentage of weight loss, so he is safe from the vote. After a lot of hand-wringing the team votes out Lisa because she’s strong enough to do this on her own, so yay! In the episode update Lisa is down 76 pounds and leading an active lifestyle to be an example for her family and the special needs children she teaches.
Loving the transformations.
Are you addicted to Biggest Loser this season? Are you happy about the white team win?
