Pop Your Cherry Cherry: 10 Cherry Inspired Recipes

This week has not one, but two holidays dedicated to the delightful fruit that is the cherry. Monday is Cherry Popsicle Day and Wednesday is Cherry  Turnover Day, which means that everyday this week should be a cherry dessert day!

The cherry is one of the oldest cultivated fruits known to man. It was harvested as early as 300 B.C. in western Asia as well as in the warmer climates of eastern Europe. Still to this day the Cherry Blossom Tree is an associated image of Asia for most westerners. As history drew on, much like the migration of many other foods, settlers brought their beloved cherry pits to new lands and began planting them in regions other than Asia and eastern Europe. Now the majority of the world is happy to know the sweet taste of the rich fruit whether it be the natural cherry, or the cherry baked into a desert.

This week we’ve mustered up 10 cherry inspired recipes to share with all of you in celebration of the cherry holidays!

Tilapia is an incredibly delicate fish that seemingly melts in the mouth. Now imagine smothered in a cherry salsa… unfathomable. If Martha says its good, it must be!
