Believe it or not, August is a month dedicated to best friends. There is a best friends week, a best friends day, and a sisters (which is the equivalent of a best friend) day. We want to recognize the importance of best friends well past just the month of August by making our dinner and a movie marathon revolve around some of the best friendships in film. Obviously there are too many fantastic friends on the big screen, but we picked out a few of our favorite friendships to admire this week. Grab your best friends and appreciate the importance of friendship for this week’s dinner and a movie!

Can you handle this bromance? I Love You, Man is the story about Peter’s quest for male friends. When Peter meets Sydney, it is game over. The adventures the uptight Peter and laid back Sydney encounter together are some for the record books. Even though this duo end up meeting each other later in life, they teach one another a little something about responsibility and cutting loose. To say that these two are a dynamic duo is quite the understatement. Who knew that you could meet a lifelong friend in prison? Shawshank Redemption‘s Andy and Red become best friends over these odd circumstances, and help each other along their difficult journey. We find that the most appropriate recipe to accompany this movie is Mississippi mud pie, considering Andy’s famous scene covered in mud.
