Dinner & A Movie: Recipes for a ‘Sex and the City’ Marathon

Sex and the City was one of those classic televisions shows that is timeless and enjoyed by women of all ages. These movies are great for a girls night movie marathon, completed with some delicious food and drinks. In both the original and the sequel the women take trips around the world which has inspired us to find different recipes from all around the world.  Carrie, Charlotte, Samantha, and Miranda experience tough times at home and aboard, which makes their friendships ( and the movie) even that more special. From being stood up at the alter to being cheated on, these resilient women battle through and manage to have a lot of fun along the way. All your girlfriends will love these movies and love your food even more.

Cosmopolitan (via Chow)

The signature drink of Sex and the City is the Cosmopolitan. A cosmopolitan is a vodka citron based drink that is typical garnished with a lemon wedge. Some on ther other ingredients in this pink drink are cranberry juice, Cointreau, and  lime juice. Although the drink was invented in the 1970s, it reached  the height of its popularity in the 1990s and early 2000s partly but of the show. This cocktail packs and punch, so be sure to have food and water on hand to make sure your guest can enjoy themselves.

Mexican Tostada (via Simply Recipes)

 

After being left at the alter by Mr.Big, Carrie and her girls in the Mexican vacation that was suppose to be a honeymoon. A tostada is classic Mexican dish that easy to make and brings together a lot of different flavors. The base of the tostada is a fried tortilla, on top there are various topping such as refried beans, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and salsa. This recipe does include meat, but you can add some shredded chicken or  ground beef to make it more substantial.

Spiced Potato Cakes (via Food Network)

In the sequel, Sex and the City 2, The ladies enjoy an all expenses paid trip to Abu Dhabi from a friend of Samantha’s. This easy to make middle eastern dish is not only delicious, its easy to easy while watching a movie. These cakes are made with potatoes, cumin, cinnamon, turmeric, and egg and few more ingredients. It only takes 30 minutes to cook and can be eaten with your hands. Add a yogurt garlic dipping sauce to include a cool element to the dish.

    Firstly, a well-made Cosmo is a thing of beauty. Second, “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” is an epic girl night movie. Still Sarah Jessica plus Helen Hunt-in the 80’s dancing. Epic.
