Daily Bite Wellness Tip: Peppermint Tea Benefits

While coffee seems to be everyone’s best friend as of late (and forever), next time you are looking for something warm and comforting, reach for the peppermint tea. Peppermint tea is not only tasty and reminds us of the holidays but also has countless health benefits. Besides being caffeine-free – which is  good for you (shocker!) – it has great detoxification qualities.

Firstly, these qualities can aid you in alleviating stress. Why is this you might ask? The menthol that is present in peppermint tea is a natural muscle relaxant. Now, you won’t be flopping all over the place, but it does make this the perfect before-bed drink for ultimate relaxation and a deep slumber.

In addition, peppermint tea is also great for getting rid of bloating, gas, and even  weight loss. Teas are natural diuretics and very helpful for flushing toxins out of your system. Combine this with its appetite suppressing qualities and it becomes perfect for sipping on in between meals to curb your snacking!

Finally, peppermint can be a potential all-natural remedy to clear your skin. Recent studies have show that spearmint-type teas have the ability to regulate hormones responsible for triggering acne and other skin conditions. Apply it topically as an disinfectant to get deep into those pores as well.

Be wary, however, not all peppermint tea is created equally. Loose leaf is more often advisable that peppermint tea bags. Consuming 1-3 cups a day would also be the ideal range.
