Why does it always feel like every time we find ourselves in a drugstore, looking for dry hair treatments and shampoos, we leave with slightly different variations on the same mediocre products?

This could be especially relevant in recent months due to the wintertime. Winter does terrible, terrible things to hair (and skin). The dry air and bitter temperatures suck the moisture out of the delicate strands, causing them to become brittle and prone to breakage at the slightest touch. To make matters worse, many of the generic shampoos and conditioners on the market contain ingredients that further strip hair of it’s natural oils, meaning our beautiful locks are suffering at all angles… even at the hands of those we thought we could trust!

To naturally restore moisture and vitality to your hair, try investing in jojoba oil. This fun-to-say oil has a whole slew of hydrating properties as well as a similar molecular structure to sebum, which is our scalps’ natural oil. Because of their similarities, jojoba is readily accepted by the head and very rarely causes any irritation. It helps to remove dry skin from the scalp as well as hydrates hair strands from inside the hair shaft, ensuring that it stays strong and vibrant. To get the most out of jojoba oil, feel free to either add a few drops of it to your everyday shampoo or massage a small amount into your scalp. It won’t leave your hair greasy or oily, but instead give it just the hydrating boost and shine it needs.

Luckily for you, jojoba oil is not only for the rich (or famous). It can be found in drugstores or your local health and nutrition store (i.e. Vitamin Shoppe, GNC, etc). The prices vary, but it is nothing that will make you scream in horror. Coming in at around $12, jojoba oil makes for a worthwhile investment.
