Dinner and a Movie: Some Old Time Classics

It has been decided. We have spent far too many weeks watching movies that, while fantastic, are just not the classics. For this week’s dinner and a movie, we want to take it back to the movies that paved the way for movie stars and films that are popular today. We picked out three films that we think inspired the epic romances and plot lines that continue to be produced today. We could just be biased, since we did pick these ones out, but although they are old, they are some of the greatest movies ever made. If you aren’t a fan of old movies, these movies should change your mind. If they don’t, well then at least you have some cooking and a few delicious snacks to occupy your time. Enjoy a few classics for this week’s dinner and a movie!

Casablanca + Squash Soup (via Pinch of Yum)

The top classic, Casasblanca may just be the number one movie on every list of “top classic movies” there is. Casablanca is an anti-Nazi propaganda film that takes place in Casablanca, Morocco in 1941. Rick Blaine must decide whether to help the woman he had fallen for many years earlier, or stay true to his honor. The choice is a tough one, but we can all watch Blaine decide over some squash soup. It’s fall, we had to.

Sunset Blvd. + Cider Glazed Pork Chops (via Delightful E Made)

I would have to bet that not many people know about this movie, which is a damn shame because it is one of the best we have ever seen. Joe Gillis finds himself in a compromising situation when a washed up movie star, Norma Desmond, hires him to be her house boy. If you ask us, Sunset Blvd. is way before its time and predicted the future of practically every washed up celebrity there is. Eat like a movie star with a cider glazed pork chop during this movie!

Roman Holiday + Praline Crack (via Cookies and Cups)

Well it wouldn’t be a classic movie night without a little Audrey Hepburn. In Roman Holiday, Audrey Hepburn plays a well protected girl who breaks free of her guardians watchful eye for a day. She winds up traveling the streets of Rome with an American newsman looking for the latest scoop. Their adventures are the perfect way to end a night of classics. Try these praline crumble bars during the Roman Holiday and we might say you just about crushed dinner and a movie classics night!
