Chick-fil-A Removes Some Unhealthy Ingredients From Its Menu

Although it may be cliché to say you are what you eat, it’s still true. This is why it’s great that fast food companies around the world are trying to make the food they serve healthier for their customers. The latest company to join the trend is Chick-fil-A. The Georgia based company has recently decided to remove some unhealthy ingredients from the food they serve.

Most noteably, they have removed the high fructose corn syrup from their white buns and the artificial dyes from their sauces and dressings. The new buns will be debuted at 200 locations in Georgia and healthier sauces and dressings will be in stores early 2014. By the end of this month all Chick-fil-A locations will serve a new chicken soup that no longer contain yellow food coloring. They are also testing a new peanut oil which they hope to introduce in 2014.

The company has not been advertising the changes, which leaves many to believe that they made them because of Vani Hari. She was the blogger who wrote a post back in 2011 called “Chick- fil-A or Chemical-fil-A?” In it, she listed 100 unhealthy ingredients in the food served by the company, one being butane. Some of the other ingredients included MSG, GMO corn, and food coloring. After her blog post she was invited to the Chick-fil-A headquarters in Atlanta to spend a day discussing her concerns about their food, and back in April the company changed all their salads in order to make them healthier.

Chick-fil-A joins a whole host of other fast food companies like McDonald’s, Burger King, Taco Bell, and KFC, who have all been adding healthier options to their menus and removing unhealthy ingredients such as food coloring, meat fillers, and high fructose corn syrup.

Never before in my life. They do have grilled chicken “nuggets” though that I wouldn’t mind trying, HOWEVER, after closer inspection to their nutrition label… I would not touch them either – why does chicken have to have sugar on it?!
