The Magical World Of Psyllium Husk (Bonus Recipes!)

psyllium husk benefits and recipes

Have you heard of psyllium husk before? If you haven’t, it’s high time you give this superfood a go.

What is it exactly? Psyllium seed husk  is essentially one of the greatest all-natural sources of soluble dietary fiber. Psyllium husk and its powder form in particular absorb liquid. When passed through your gastrointestinal system, it then softens your “stools” making digestion a whole lot easier on your body.

This is incredibly important and beneficial for your body in more ways than one. Not only can it relieve constipation in those dire situations, but it also has a plethora of other benefits. The most prominent ones happen to be the following:

1. Promotes “Regularity”

If going to the restroom regularly seems like something your body has difficulty doing (that means at least 1-2x daily), you may not be taking in sufficient amounts of fiber. This is especially common in people who are eating low carbohydrate diets. Psyllium husk first thing in the morning or last thing in the day can be just what you need.

2. May Help You Be “Pain Free”

If you suffer from a gastrointestinal issue or maybe something like hemorrhoids and anal fissures, psyllium husk may be beneficial due to its aiding in digestion and “passing”.

3. Lowers Your Cholesterol

Yes, it’s true! Just like most fiber-rich foods it can lower your cholesterol and…

4. Lowers Blood Pressure

…simultaneously lower your blood pressure, meaning..

5. Reduces Risk Of Heart Disease

… You will have an overall decreased risk of heart disease! Psyllium husk promotes a healthy heart, which is very important to live a long, healthy life. Heart Disease is one of America’s top killers, and something as simple as including this in your diet may help keep you from being just another statistic.

6. Helps Maintain A Healthy Weight

Because psyllium husk is essentially pure fiber, it helps you feel full after ingesting it. Psyllium husk when mixed with any liquid will expand, which also contributes to the feeling of satiety. In addition, by aiding digestion, your body is then detoxing more efficiently which helps move along your weight loss efforts.

7. Maintains Healthy Glycemic Balance

If you suffer from diabetes, or watching your levels of insulin and glucose (blood sugar), psyllium husk may be a great aid in balancing this.

8. Easily Masked And Great In Food!

One of the best parts about psyllium husk? It virtually tastes like nothing and can be mixed in all your favorite breakfast items, especially. Blend a scoop into your post workout smoothie, mix it into your oatmeal, or even bake it into your favorite healthy treats. The possibilities are endless.

Return it to the oven and cook for 8 more minutes or until the cheese is melted.

Handmade High-Fiber Psyllium Pasta:

Preheat oven to 300°. In a large bowl, whisk the eggs until they are fluffy, then add in the ORGANIC INDIA Whole Husk Psyllium and cream cheese. Mix well until all ingreients are combined, then let the dough rest for five minutes. Lightly grease a baking sheet and pour the dough into it, pressing down so it covers the sheet and is very thin. Bake for about 10 minutes or until golden brown. Use a pizza cutter to cut the sheet into thin strips of pasta. Serve with your favorite sauce.
